It's often stood out to me when I catch up with writers in a general sense that we share a sense of self-doubt, but as a Christian there is something I can turn to.David Rawlingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07809006358848831141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-515660504291275491.post-39853374694667121352017-03-01T11:37:16.127+11:002017-03-01T11:37:16.127+11:00David, great post. Yes, I'm big on your last point but it's fascinating how trusting we are.

One other trust factor that we've both experienced in recent times (probably fits in the feedback category) is "timely" responses to submissions. We trust in a level of courtesy in keeping us updated on a timely basis. Inevitably our timely is different to those we place trust in. Or is expectation a better word for it?

And as you quite rightly point out the waiting brings us back to our trust in God. Seeking to discover what He sees in our situation of waiting (or rejection, bad reviews, lack of sales, etc) and building perseverance that is so important in both following Him and in our writing careers.Ian Ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00192687613923596829noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-515660504291275491.post-6919189343983132632017-03-01T11:11:09.705+11:002017-03-01T11:11:09.705+11:00Thanks for sharing. I hadn't thought about trust being such an integral part of writing but I totally agree with what you've said. If I'm faithful and nurture and tend my writing he will make it grow. Some days it's harder to trust than others :).Sue Jeffreyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06198695729535623216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-515660504291275491.post-79546589324903127712017-03-01T09:52:37.707+11:002017-03-01T09:52:37.707+11:00A great overview of the whole trust element in our...A great overview of the whole trust element in our writing journeys, David--thank you. Re your last couple of paragraphs, whenever I am at a writers' event run by a secular organisation, I often look around and wonder how other authors survive in this industry if they don't know and trust God. So I totally agree that, as a writer, being a Christian in invaluable (although of course it's invaluable whatever we do really!).Jo-Anne Berthelsenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09775045057529728396noreply@blogger.com
