It's Iola here. Welcome to our ACW Tuesday Book Chat where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, so today's question is obvious and should appeal to the romance readers out there. What's your favourite book featuring Valentine's Day? (Do you have one?)
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation in a comment on this post or in a comment on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Or, if you're feeling wordy (like me), write a blog post and link to it in the comments.
I am not sure I can remember books just featuring Valentines day. I know I did get a series of novella's at one time I think set around this day but I cant remember. It has never meant a lot to me the day as I am single never married. I have had a couple of cards over the years but mainly from American pen friends. until around 20 - 25 years ago it really didn't mean much to Australians. I have seen it grow but still not to the status it is in America.
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny, I agree - Valentine’s Day isn’t as big a deal here as it is in the US and other parts of the world. Maybe Aussie’s are cynical about the commercialisation of holidays?
DeleteI also wonder if it's the time of year - it's the beginning of the school year, when teachers are trying to settle the children back into learning after the long summer holidays. They don't need an excuse to spend a day making cards :)
DeleteHi Iola, At Inspy Romance on the weekend I shared a post recommending three Valentine’s themed contemporary Christian romances. I also added JoAnn Durgin’s ‘The Valentine Verse’ to the top of my tbr list after multiple recommendations from Inspy Romance readers on my blog post. Happy Valentine’s Day :)
ReplyDeleteI did actually pick up a couple of Valentine's Day romances, which I read over the weekend. I definitely recommend The Cupcake Dilemma by Jennifer Rodewald, which had a definite Valentine's theme ... so that's my new favourite!
