Tuesday Book Chat | 3 July 2018 | Iola Goulton

It's Iola here. Welcome to our ACW Tuesday Book Chat, where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Do you visit book stores?

Online or physical? Which do you visit most often? Which is your favourite? And why?

Please join in the conversation in a comment on this post or in a comment on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Or, if you're feeling wordy (like me), write a blog post and link to it in the comments.

Let's chat! Do you visit book stores?

  1. It's one of my favourite things to do - stroll around a book store. Dymocks in George St is my favourite - can spend hours there.

    1. That's good to hear, Ian. But do you buy anything ...

    2. Always, Iola. It's why I can't go into bookshops too frequently. Like a kid in a candy shop.

    3. I love Dymocks in George St! It's years since I've been there, but I have great memories of spending too much money there. :)

  2. Yes, mostly to buy for my kidlets (which is why it’s dangerous to take them there!)

    1. Taking my kidlets shopping anywhere is dangerous, lol. :)

  3. Love book stores. Get lost in the wonder of talent represented over years of writing. Love older books in particular. I do not remember a time when I have entered and left empty handed.

  4. Hi Iola, yes, I love to have a browse, although I don't always buy. They are mostly the second hand or quaint, privately owned type, because the big chains have been closing down under my nose. A few months ago I went for my normal browse at the Dymocks shop near my Mum's place, which has been there for 20+ years, to find it had suddenly disappeared 😓

    1. It's sad to see so many book stores close.

  5. Koorong online is my go to bookstore. I'd love to go to the actual shop, but it's just too far away. There's also a bookstore in my local shopping centre that I pop into on occasion - it's so peaceful in there and the noise from the shopping centre doesn't seem to reach inside. I haven't bought anything in there, just gone in for a rest from the hustle and bustle outside.
