  1. Yes! Hi Narelle (& everyone) & happy 2018 to you! I received the new Stephanie Plum novel by Janet Evanovich ‘Hardcore 24’ (I have the rest) which I look forward to reading once I’ve finished my first draft of my next book. Anyone else read any stories about New Jersey’s sassy bounty hunter?

    1. Hi Carolyn, Happy New Year :) I discovered the Stephanie Plum books when High Five released (almost 20 years ago). I loved the book so much I had to immediately buy the first 4 books in the series! I remember searching the stores at Warringah Mall in Sydney to buy all the backlist books. Each year I’d buy the new release in July and reread the previous books in the series before savouring the new release. :)

  2. Yes, I did. It's a funny story, because I gave a book to my sister-in-law (husband's sister), and received the exact same one from my brother-in-law (their brother). Quite a coincidence, of all the books that could have been chosen. It was The Good People by Hannah Kent. I've never read her before.

    1. Hi Paula, lol, that is a coincidence and also a better situation than one person receiving the same book twice. I haven’t read Hannah Kent but I’ve heard her books are good. :)

  3. Yes, I received three very different books. I am half way through the first, the Charles Martin novel 'Long Way Gone', and absolutely love it, despite (or because of?) its being so sad. I am in awe of his writing style and his ability to create such memorable characters. Unforgettable. And the other two are non-fiction--Brene Brown's 'Braving the Wilderness' and 'The Soul of a Pilgrim' by Christine Valters Paintner.

    1. Hi Jo-Anne, I’ve heard ‘Long Way Gone’ is brilliant and it’s sitting in my Kindle account waiting to be read. It sounds like I’ll need to be in the right frame of mind to cope with the intensity of the story, but I’m looking forward to studying the book from a writing craft perspective. Enjoy your summer reading. :)

  4. I got a small devotional type book. Chicken Soup for the Soul Good Deeds. It has around 10 stories previously published in Random Acts of Kindness which is a much larger book. I am reading on a day as a devotion. They are inspiring. I also got an Amazon gift voucher which will eventually go towards books when I am back to reading more.

    1. Hi Jenny, I haven’t read a Chicken Soup series book in ages. It’s helpful that they’re shorter in length and work as a daily devotion. Enjoy your Amazon gift card shopping. :)

  5. I received Nicki Edward's new book, One More Song, for Christmas Eve and the new Monica McInerney book, The Trip of a Lifetime, on Christmas Day. I then bought myself some books on Boxing Day...

    1. Hi Melissa, I have a copy of ‘One More Song’ on the side table next to me, begging to be read, lol. I’m in the middle of another book and need to make my daily word count goal before I can allow myself the indulgence of reading. I’ve heard ‘The Trip of a Lifetime’ is a great read and I’ve listened to the audio book of the first book on the series. Eventually I’ll listen to or read book 2 and catch up to this one. Enjoy your holiday reading. :)

  6. My wife gave me Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson. 1,243 pages. My wrists are getting sore from holding it up. Haha. Loving it, though.
