Tuesday Book Chat | 6 November 2018 | Iola Goulton

From Iola Goulton @iolagoulton

It's Iola here. Welcome to our ACW Tuesday Book Chat where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.

Today's question is:

For those of you who are now getting shouty because Who On Earth has started thinking about Christmas shopping in the first week of November ... I didn't set the question. And we have to start sometime.

Anyway, books make good gifts. Or book vouchers.

Please join in the conversation in a comment on this post or in a comment on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Or, if you're feeling wordy (like me), write a blog post and link to it in the comments.

Let's chat!

What I love about Christmas Books

By Jenny Blake

With Christmas coming I love to read Christmas books and novella, so far I haven’t been up to reading much this year but over the years I have read many. I love reading about a white Christmas and reading about customs of other lands.

I love the novellas because they are an easy read at this time of year and uplifting. Many years ago Barbour books brought out four novellas in a book use to have four each year with two being historical and two being contemporary.

In the past year or so, with more authors becoming hybrid authors or indie authors there are more books out. Last year there were several who combined to do a Christmas collections with one novella a week at the cost of $.99. I loved these stories and look forward to reading more this year.

A couple years ago I was in America and got to meet some author and readers at a weekend get together. Two of these Janet Tronstad and Jillian Hart had combined to write two Historical mail order bride books and were combining for a third book. This book I was so excited to hear while there was to be dedicated me and they even had the train conductor called Mr Blake.  For a reader this is extremely exciting.

How about you do you enjoy Christmas books? Do you like reading about Christmas in other places?
